Patch 0.1.2b — Combat Hotfix
A follow-up hotfix to 0.1.2 addressing combat issues reported after release.
Fixed
- Fixed character rotating away from the target when attacking rapidly.
- Fixed movement input influencing character facing during an attack.
- Fixed dual-wield main hand and off hand hitboxes triggering simultaneously — each weapon now has independent timing.
- Fixed inventory scroll container conflicting with item dragging on touch devices.
Patch 0.1.2 — Combat Update
A focused combat patch addressing feedback from testers. Attacks are snappier, more reliable, and feel better to chain together.
Combat
- Attacks now chain more smoothly — timing is driven by actual animation frames instead of fixed estimates.
- Fixed hitbox staying active after an attack, causing unintended hits while walking near enemies.
- Fixed swings occasionally not registering a hit.
- Player now tracks and stays connected to their target during a swing instead of sliding past them.
Fixed
- Fixed a bug where opening the character sheet would permanently block attacking for the rest of the session.
- Fixed a bug where entering a game session with the character sheet open would block all attacks.
Patch 0.1.1 — Mobile Controls & Bug Fixes
Patch 0.1.1 brings full touch and mobile support to Avalon Heroes, a redesigned character sheet, and fixes for the most-reported bugs from 0.1.0.

- Virtual Joystick — Full touch movement via an on-screen joystick for phones and tablets.
- Touch Combat Buttons — Attack, block, and ability buttons optimized for touchscreen play.
- Mobile HUD — Health, resource, and exp bars redesigned for mobile screens.

- Fixed inventory item duplication when dragging an offhand item back to its slot.
- Fixed shield incorrectly appearing in the main hand slot during equipment swaps.
- Fixed dual-wield attacks triggering when a shield was equipped in the offhand.
- Fixed exp bar showing incorrect values after level up.
- Fixed level-up visual effect playing when returning to the lobby.
- Fixed server crash when a quiz session ended unexpectedly.
- Fixed logout redirecting to a 404 page.
- Fixed player being lost when transitioning into a session.
Improvements
- Ability unlock indicator now fires correctly on mobile.
- Block button only appears on mobile when a shield is equipped.

Patch 0.1.0 — The Real Game Begins
Thank you to everyone who played the MVP. Your feedback, bug reports, and patience directly shaped this patch.
Patch 0.1.0 is a near-complete overhaul — accounts, persistence, dynamic quizzes, abilities, loot, the shop, and much more. This is the first version that feels like the game we set out to build.
New
- Account System — Create an account in-game or on the website. Log in with your username or email.
- Guest Mode — Play without an account. Progress doesn't carry over but no sign-up required.
- Guest-to-Account Transfer — Register mid-session and your gear and gold carry over automatically.
- Character Customization — Personalize your hero's appearance, name, and class when creating your account. Players can create up to 5 characters per account. Your look carries across every session.
- The Barracks — The lobby area now has a name. Players start here before entering a session and can equip gear, practice combat on training dummies, and prepare before the next run.
- The Shop — Spend gold earned in sessions on armor, weapons, and accessories from the lobby merchant.
- Inventory & Equipment System — Full drag and drop inventory with equipment slots (Head, Chest, Weapon, Off-hand, Back, Accessory). Equipment persists between sessions.
- World Objective — Avalon Highlands — Defeat 400 undead enemies before the session timer runs out.
- Session End Screen — Celebrate or fail screen with animated reward chests based on quiz accuracy.
- In-Game Tutorial — Guides new players through the basics. Supports English, Japanese, and Spanish. Shown once per account.
- Bug Report System — Report bugs directly from the pause menu. Reports are sent to the dev team instantly.
- iPad / Touch Support — Auto-detects touchscreen devices. Single tap opens the item panel, double-tap buys or sells. Toggle in settings.
- Point & Click Movement — Click anywhere on the ground to move your character. A visual indicator shows the destination.
- Arrow Key Movement — Alternative to WASD for players who prefer arrow keys.
- Click to Attack — Click directly on an enemy to auto-move into range and begin attacking.
- Spacebar Attack — Attack in the direction your character is facing. Works well with keyboard movement.
- Loading Screen Tips — Random tips (and jokes) while the game loads.
- Server Wake System — Game server wakes automatically when you log in. No manual restart needed.
- Enemy Drops — Enemies drop exp shards, gold, and potions with weighted rarity during sessions.
- World Loot Pool — End-of-session gear rewards are drawn from Avalon Highlands' loot pool. More worlds with their own pools will be added in future patches.
Quiz System
- Teacher Quiz Banks — Teachers build custom quiz questions on the website. Students select the quiz bank themselves from the session starter before entering. Note: Teacher-hosted sessions (where the teacher starts the session and students join directly) are planned for a future patch.
- Quiz Accuracy Loot System — Your accuracy at the end of a session determines what loot you earn:
- 100% — Legendary & Chroma pool unlocked
- 90–99% — Epic & Rare armor + weapon chests
- 80–89% — Uncommon armor chest
- 70–79% — Common armor chest
- Below 70% — Gold only
Hero Classes
- Warrior — Playable in 0.1.0. Frontline brawler with War Cry, Whirlwind, and Earth Shatter.
- War Cry — Unleash a powerful battle shout that increases Dexterity and restores health on every hit for 10 seconds. Unlocks at level 5. 30s cooldown.
- Whirlwind — Spin through enemies in a storm of steel, dealing 10–13 damage to all nearby foes for 5 seconds. You can move while spinning. Damage scales with Strength. Unlocks at level 10. 40s cooldown.
- Earth Shatter — Crash down with overwhelming force. The ground erupts outward dealing 30–40 damage to all enemies in the impact zone and briefly staggering them. Damage scales with your total Strength. Unlocks at level 15. 60s cooldown.
